A fabulous middle grade book encompassing everything relevant for the 21st century adventurer: tackling current affairs of global warming, the effects of climate change and the destruction of wildlife whilst being a heartwarming, family orientated read that also addresses some of the social dilemmas faced by your average 12 year old… social media, popularity amongst peers and more!
Our eldest adventurer and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing this book together!
The story follows Blue a 12 year old girl with a love of wildlife and nature!

Blue has always dreamt of joining her parents as they document environmental issues around the world. Finally, her wish comes true when her parents decide a year of home schooling around the world would be the best adventure yet.
A hot summer in Australia brings Blue face to face with the climate crisis, the reality of its effects and to those around it. From volunteering at a wildlife hospital where she meets the most magnificent animals Blaze, Reuben to name but a few to joining a koala rescue mission! Not to mention the awesome friends she makes along the way in Archie and Katy!
The book is beautifully written and the illustrations paint the perfect picture of the images you can vividly imagine as you read through the book. Our eldest loved that there were specific places detailed and described as she read along and has put the Blue Mountains and Sydney on her own bucket list of travel- she cannot wait to go and explore this beautiful country!

Blue is determined to make a difference.
But with bushfires raging out of control, no animal is safe – and no human either!
About the Blue’s Planet Series:
Blue’s Planet is a globetrotting ecological adventure series, following a passionate Blue and her quest to save the world. Whether its climate change and wildfires in Australia, or wildlife trafficking and palm oil deforestation in
Borneo, nothing will stop Blue from making a difference and encouraging others to do the same.
The perfect read for budding young environmentalists and fans of Greta Thunberg.

It’s an environmental adventure series set in a fascinating new place each time – what’s not to love? We cannot wait for more books to be released journeying us around the world as Blue helps tackle the very relevant and real environmental issues of the 21st century!
It encourages young activism and empowers children to think about how they can save the planet, in big ways and small! Our eldest adventurer has really been inspired by Blue’s Planet and has since gone on to read up some more on climate change and the changes we can make around the home – this particular book has really tapped into her empathetic side. Where she sees past her generation but is wondering what will be of generations to come?
Topical issues are covered realistically but optimistically – Blue always has hope that things can be better!
Blue is twelve years old, but that doesn’t stop her making a difference and is inspiring others to do the same!
A fabulous read and one we definitely recommend!
Although this book was kindly sent to us for review all thoughts, photos and opinions as always are our own!
